Technology

The Reitan Catheter Pump is indicated in patients with a need for circulatory support throughout periods of compromised left ventricular function. The rotation of the propeller results in an afterload reduction for the left ventricle of the heart. This facilitates the ejection of blood for the left ventricle but also increases peripheral perfusion pressure especially to the abdominal organs (like e.g. the kidneys). Although the propeller runs continuously no synchronisation with the heart is necessary in addition the pulsatile flow maintains. The pump speed can be adjusted according to the hemodynamic requirements.

Technology

The Reitan Catheter Pump (RCP) is a minimally invasive circulatory support system for femoral insertion.

Its unique foldable propeller mechanism allows for a smart percutaneous insertion.

This technology developed by CardioBridge result in a maximum efficiency in combination with a minimal trauma at the access to the femoral artery.

With the concept of continuous rotation of the propeller without the need for heart synchronization, the option of temporary circulatory support with the RCP is not limited by the state of the aortic valve (native or prosthetic)
